The Ohio State University

Yoga on High and the Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University are collaborating in bringing Urban Zen Integrative Therapy (UZIT) to the patients, their family members and the staff at the medical center. UZIT is currently available in a variety of clinical areas including the Neurosciences-Trauma units and the Hospitalist unit in University Hospital, as well as, the Vascular Surgery unit in the Ross Heart Hospital. Plans are in place to expand to several ambulatory sites in the near future. Six medical center nurses have been trained in the UZIT protocols and are using them in their clinical practice as appropriate. Other trainees from the program are also completing 50 clinical hours each at the Wexner Medical Center. The response to UZIT has been overwhelmingly positive as our physicians, nurses and ancillary staff recognize how these complementary modalities enhance patient care and their own self-care.
