The UZIT training has changed my life tremendously, it has given me tools to better care for myself, it’s allowed me to grow stronger as an individual so that I can better care for those around me. Q:  How do you find balance in your daily life?

A:   To be honest, with difficulty! I tend to be an all or nothing kind of person energetically. So while I utilize many self care practices in my daily life, I’m working to find more of a balance by weaving in rituals that feel authentic to me and that can be practiced regularly. I get a tremendous amount of joy from my work, my family, being in nature, and taking the time to practice yoga. It’s all part of the process in which I strive towards balance on a daily basis.

Q:  What motivates you? Your mission?

A:   My mission is to truly live my best life, to embrace myself as I am, and to continue to share love and compassion with my friends and family, and within the work that I do. It’s so important to touch people in all ways, and we’re so lucky to get to do that with this work.

Q:  Which modality are you more drawn to in the UZIT model?

A:  Reiki, it allows people to come back to the feeling of touch, closeness. To be able to share space and energy with another person, it’s really special.

Q:  In what population are you currently using your UZIT skills?

A:  Our community consists of short term rehab patients as well as long term residents who are primarily between the ages 60-107 years old. Additionally, we support their caregivers, which include their families and the employees at CareRite, the nurses, aids, everyone and anyone, who lends support and needs support, whether they’re experiencing struggles or joy.

Q:  What is your meditation practice?

A:  Truthfully, I don’t have one! What I do try to do is sit when I need to ground myself, I feel my feet on the floor, I close my eyes and observe my breath, often utilizing a grounding essential oil like Frankincense.

I’ve been able to provide so much comfort, love, and support to more populations that I ever thought possible. It’s also impacted my experience of life tremendously. The end of life work I do utilizing the UZIT modalities has allowed me to hold space for people and their families as they are dying.

Q:  How do you UZIT?

A:  I UZIT for myself by attending Urban Zen classes whenever possible, utilizing essential oils daily and checking in with the other modalities as needed. I UZIT for others on a regular basis by offering one on one sessions and group classes at St. James CareRite facility and I also hold space for my family and friends often. I truly love that this work allows you to touch people in a way that is truly mind and body, physical and emotional.
